I know I've been on this roller coaster once or twice before, but I am on the job hunt.
What shitty timing, as it turns out that the rest of the country is too!
I decided (sort of) that with my daughter being 5 (now 6) that at some point I am going to have to go back to work. Would I love to stay at home forever and ever? Maybe! When I think about it though the thought seems strange. What about when she leaves home? I have to do something with my time at some point!
So anyway, I started the job search. Worked the numbers backwards to figure out what a minimum salary I need. Lesson learned over a year ago, if you are a stay at home parent and you decide to go back to work you need to outsource. So I need enough to pay a nanny and a housekeeper and still earn enough that I'm not working just to pay someone else to do my job!
I have had a few interviews, to no avail. I thought that people at first didn't like my "time off" so I added to my resume the fact that I have been working for my husbands company since she was born. At least now it looks like I've done SOMETHING since 2005.
On the downside my husbands company is just now starting to slow down, after avoiding the economic downturn for the first four years. So the timing to get a job couldn't be better. Sure, if it's up to my salary alone we'll be living off of a diet of ramen noodles and macaroni and cheese, but the kid likes them so she won't notice it's a "problem" until she's 17!! Hahaha.
